Here’s my stab at the almost-for-certain Thin MacBook to be announced by Steve Jobs at Macworld in San Francisco tomorrow.
The Red iPod series, Jobs’ zen type ideologies and the snubbing of OS X by “One Laptop Per Child” leaders all seem to be indicators that the Thin Macbook will be a low priced entry level device to get users into a Mac Notebok for cheap. Maybe its not on the scale of the One Laptop Per Child initiative, at least in scope, but this type of laptop, say a sub $600 device would be sweet for schools, switchers and non-profits around the globe. Keep in mind that Apple made a special invitation to European news agencies for this years MWSF keynote, suggesting that the product announcement(s) will impact beyond the US at its initial release.
